I'm past grief and into pure rage. To all the people who decided to vote for the twice-impeached convicted criminal guy over Harris because she wasn't liberal enough or didn't agree with them on a single issue, fuck you. I hope you suffer for your heartless, idiotic decision.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect those people will all be deeply regretting their decision fairly quickly once Trump and his handlers and his accomplices actually take the reins of power.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Don't forget those who were eligible and able to vote but didn't bother, for whatever bullshit justification they could come up with.

There were several people in my life who seemed to think Trump and Harris were comparable. I'm utterly baffled and have honestly pulled back from talking to those people. Like, no. Just no. I hear this a lot from fellow socialists. Just because the Democrat party is fairly centrist and does have some not so great policies, that somehow makes them comparable to the Republican party that had become extremist even before Trump.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
Neither of them were gonna help me.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
But one of them is likely to harm you more than the other.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but you see: They were gonna help some people, but specifically not me and mine. And their supporters were gonna let them do it, their supporters were gonna let them help them and call it job done, and me and mine should fuck off and not rock the boat because that would hurt them. I would get harmed either by the opposition, or by the people who wanted my vote, but only the latter would demand my gratitude. Hah-hah-hah, fuck that. Now we all suffer together. And next election, there better be none of that talk. Or I'll be happy to do it again. We all rise together next time, or we all go down in flames to hell and suffer together. The choice is on the mainstream Dems, do they want to fight for me or would they rather go to hell to spite me.

For thirty years I've watched the right wing fringe of the GOP get everything they wanted because they were willing to torch the mainstream Republicans until they got it. I figure it is time to try that on the left too. Give me everything, or go die in that ditch with me. No More Moderates.

Well, the fringe right wing of the party is closer to the mainstream of their party. How much is Trump different than Reagan? Bush's culture wars about gay marriage is not really that much different the trans panic the GOP is using now. The Republican Party has actually been like they are for 40 years.

Go die in a ditch with you? How much will I have next year if they take a torch to Social Security like the GOP has wanted for 80 years? But I'll be dying in a ditch with you, so it'll all be worth it.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This. I'm disabled, and over fifty. Trump and co. want me to just go die already, childless cat lady that I am.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Your time to ensure that there would be a "next time" was November 5. And the time to let Democrats know of your dissatisfaction with their party was months ago.

But let me know how your scorched earth strategy works out for you.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but the party wouldn't listen when they were told and thought they could call the disenchanted left's bluff and they'd fall in line like all the times before. Unaware that discontent, when unaddressed, gathers momentum and resolve. The moderate Democrats fucked around and are now also finding out.

The ultimatum has been put to them many times, help us or one day we won't help you. They chose to make that day this day. Them, not us.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
God, you're just.... you're so stupid.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
This is not a helpful comment.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't meant to be. :)

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Where was the the ultimatum put? At the polls? On social media? Through letters to your local congressman?

I know I'm being pessimistic but I want to believe there will be elections in 2026 and 2028. And I will still operate like we are going to have them.

I hope to see you there.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Let us know how that works out for you when the Republicans destroy the Affordable Care Act and you can't get health insurance at a price that anyone who isn't already quite well off can afford, and anyone with a pre-existing condition is fucked. Let us know how that works out for you when you lose your job and your health coverage goes with it, but you can't get Medicaid because you have too many assets.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems like you are not reading what is written, for those of us who are already the lowest of the low; we're watching you lose those things because you wouldn't support us. And, yeah, I'm going to enjoy watching it.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You seem like an absolutely vile person. Let us know what that attitude gets you.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What, specifically, would have helped you? What policies would have secured your vote?

[personal profile] hey_hey_hey 2024-11-10 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Those metrics change constantly, so who knows?

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Part of me wants to revel in the schadenfreude, another part is wishing a miracle happens so they never have to experience the consequences of their stupidity (because it extends to the rest of us), and yet another part thinks, maybe these people just need to experience the full weight of the consequences of their actions before they finally get that they can't just fuck around with other people's lives just because they're dissatisfied with something in their own life. Oh, and to actually learn how their own goddamn government is supposed to work. (Which I guess might be hard if our education system goes to hell next year.)

And yet another part is raining down judgment and thinks those voters, especially the majority of white people and majority of Latino men, now have an obligation to work twice as hard to get our democracy back, and to prove to us that they are worthy of our trust. (Well, the white people could, at least. No idea how many Latinx folk will be around in 2-4 years.)

I honestly think that is a large section of Latinx people who either were born in this country or had the luxury of coming legally decades ago when it was easier just don't understand that the vast majority of people coming to the border now are running from something. Their experiences are vastly different. But the people who had it easier just think they can do what they did.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-10 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Lotta LantinX people, the ones from Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico are the Caribbean region are not fans of the Salvadorans, the Hondurans, and those from further south. They loathe and despise those "new" Latins and the way the mainstream Democrats seem to lump them all together. There is a big cultural divide there, and it is not being reflected in mainstream politics.

Plus the ultramacho culture regarding homosexuality and religion (even if it is Catholic) meshes well with Trumpian strongmanism.
