All because there was a vacuum in people claiming to represent the lower middle class, and there was and is a huge outcry for change in that class. If the Democrats, who are supposed to be the champions of that class, had done more then it would never have happened. This is still on the Democrats for fucking up so epically that they allowed the GOP to steal their ball.
