It's so impossible and out there that I have trouble understanding the morality arguments. I may not agree with moralizing about incest shipping but I can understand the reasoning behind not wanting to see incest depicted in a positive light, and thinking that could be a harmful or immoral piece of art. Like, I do fully get why someone would have that view, and how it relates to actual real-life concerns, despite having a different opinion.

With selfcest... no one is out there having sex with their clones or time traveling to have an orgy with their future selves. There is no situation in the world where someone got PTSD related to having sex with their alternate universe self. It's fine if it squicks you out or reminds you of incest and triggers you for that reason, or any other reason you don't like it, but it straight up has never happened. So I just don't get the point of the morality discussion.

As far as my opinion goes, I like the trope, but it depends on the character— some characters I think it works well for and some I just don't think would go for it.
