It's not uncommon for someone to have a really good time at one point of their life only to lose their joy somewhere along the way.

In movie sequels, sometimes it works really well. Sometimes it's the writer's lazy way of getting the lead hero back to square one so they can essentially tell the same story again.

As I get older, I'm more willing to evaluate these sorts of stories on an individual level. Stories and people are repetitive, sometimes more obvious than others.
