I am a second hand embarrassment/cringe sufferer too, and it sometimes seems so random what will set me off but once it does I can't seem to keep watching or playing whatever it is. It is dead to me. So I get you OP.

I'm the exact opposite. I hate it when authors "talk" with the characters in the author's notes; it gives me ff.net ptsd. Please do tell me all about your research, author! I want to know!

Hmm this made me realize I've never appreciated any partner "as a man" or "as a woman." And whenever stories laud a character as not like other wo/men or a shining example of a wo/man or being so femininely or masculinely ideal it throws me a bit. But I too am a gender apathetic bi who is not into het so maybe you're onto something with that.

I am sorry OP bit I am so happy the fad of cutesy talking with the characters in the notes is over. I know a lot of people found it fun but I cringed hard every time.

Honestly I would prefer no authors notes unless it is pertinent information for the story ahead.

As someone from the UK, I agree with this so much.
I also hate the original UK version because every show covering British comedy kept showing that stupid clip of Ricky Gervais dancing and saying how hilarious that show was.

I think they still do those sorts of gags in some Chinese M/M. It’s not something I read a lot of, though.
