I am a second hand embarrassment/cringe sufferer too, and it sometimes seems so random what will set me off but once it does I can't seem to keep watching or playing whatever it is. It is dead to me. So I get you OP.

I just want to preface to say that I love the inclusion for non-binary and trans representation.

I DON'T like the modern terms used. It's so fucking jarring, ROFL.

It's... Yeah, it's pretty bad. It's not just Taash, although it IS a lot of Taash. Bellara and Harding both sounding one of the worse modern day assassins creed characters.

Emmrich is pretty cool, tho. And I liked Neve well enough, except for that stupid fascinator.

I should warn, I didn't play it, I observed.

I don't know, I've played through it fully once and I don't think its any more cringe than any other Dragon Age game. I mean if you like the series you'll probably enjoy it. Is it the best Dragon Age game ever? No, and anyone who is trying to tell you so is lying. But it was pretty alright, especially considering it was cancelled and rebooted twice and in development hell for almost a decade. The final act in particular is the best part of the game.

As someone from the UK, I agree with this so much.
I also hate the original UK version because every show covering British comedy kept showing that stupid clip of Ricky Gervais dancing and saying how hilarious that show was.

Yeah, although I didn't finish the U.S. office, UK office is better all around IMO!

And yeah, although it's way lower stakes and minor, some of Tim/Jim's treatment of Gareth/Dwight seems to come from the same place as internet lolcow bullying and it's not great!

I think I'd be less uncomfortable with it if we saw actual redemption arcs. Too often we see half-hearted arcs where bullying is just ignored or excused.

I absolutely agree on the "people change" front. Bullies can genuinely atone and get better. But unfortunately, in media that often turns out to be "ACTUALLY the bully was sad so it's not their fault" or "they said sorry one time, why is their victim still being sooooo mean?" Honestly, media seems to do better with redemption arcs for people who do really horrible crimes than for the petty, inescapable misery that bullies cause.

I like it too anon (as someone who was the victim of pretty severe physical bullying). I empathize with a lot of my bullies in retrospect now that I've grown up, and wish things could've been different for us, so I like redemption stories.

Hmm this made me realize I've never appreciated any partner "as a man" or "as a woman." And whenever stories laud a character as not like other wo/men or a shining example of a wo/man or being so femininely or masculinely ideal it throws me a bit. But I too am a gender apathetic bi who is not into het so maybe you're onto something with that.
