Sidenote: Wasn't there an ep with a giant tentacle monster in the mariana trench? It has been years since I thought about this show and even more years since I watched it so who knows.

They totally had a giant thing with tentacles in the Tonga Trench (S01E05 'Treasures of the Tonga Trench').

Also, ghosts, a giant prehistoric crocodile, Atlantis, aliens, etc.

I always think of Cthulhu as a space being not a deep sea being. But I also know nothing about Cthulhu.

Oh interesting read! I really know next to nothing, other than it is a Lovecraft thing. And tentacles? But I wonder where my space correlation came from.

DA I thought he was a space thing, too. In my case, it’s because I’ve seen a lot of depictions of him in space and zero in the sea.

A lot of Lovecraft's entities are Out There, and a lot originated Out There, but are on Earth, now. (I'm pretty sure that Cthulhu is among the latter, but I'm not exactly sure if I've ever actually read Call of Cthulhu.)
