Ha! I was just reading an article talking about The Tuvix Problem and how fans are still ready and willing to have drag out fights about it. Funny timing.

Janeway looks like she's about ready to kill in that pic.

The whole crew, if I'm being real. Just sitting by and letting it happen.

The Ent D crew wouldn't have stood for that if Picard had turned to an act so evil.

Half of DS9 would have mutinied on the spot.

And while it's probably the WORST thing she's done (maybe tied with all the times she threatened the doctor with destruction if he didn't obey her) it's not like evil dictator Janeway was a one off.

I had to google what this was about, and it's... horrifying. What was the reasoning for going through with the separation that absolutely no one except the doctor didn't want to do it?

(Anonymous) 2024-11-22 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
Because two crewmates were depending on them to do so.

AYRT
I still think it's insane to think absolutely nobody else thought it unethical to disregard a sentient being's pleas to live. Definitely a trolley problem, but come on, nobody??

i mean the opposite view is that the whole crew had an ethical duty to return two crewmates to their original state as they did not and could not consent to their new state, that state was the outcome of negligence, and the doctor's refusal to do so was also harm.

Going by Lower Decks, Janeway did the right thing. Those Tuvixes kept fusing the rest of the crew together to make a Tuvix army! Although I have to say that Captain Doctor Freegleemo and Sharnes (Barx?) were pretty hot. Anyway, if Voyager had been in the Alpha Quadrant, they probably could have found an alternative that would have saved all three, but they didn't exactly have access to Starfleet resources out there. Plus, as Meadowpheonix said, it's not like Tuvok and Neelix consented to becoming Tuvix. I don't blame Janeway or the crew for wanting their friends back.
