It certainly felt like the end for Deadpool. And *another* ending for Wolverine. But to me, it also pretty strongly skewered the multiverse concept and made a statement of "actually, these superhero stories that existed before, and outside of, the MCU had value despite their flaws". So it feels like a tacit admission that the multiverse story is a flop, and perhaps ideally they *should* drop it but obviously they can't because the next films are already rolling.

Every movie Wolverine has been in felt like it ended on an ending for his character. It is pretty much a wolverine trait at this point.

But there was nothing tacit about the admission the multiverse stuff had flopped, the movie flat out explicitly said it. Miss after miss...
