Sorry, this reply will be a downer.

When family members keep a terrible family system going. When they don't protect their most vulnerable. When they supposedly want to catch up with you but don't really want to know you as a person or really check in with you.

On the flip side, I'm sure people would say about me that I am cut-off happy or something. Which I guess isn't inaccurate, given that I only speak to one blood relative these days.

Do what you need to have some peace OP. Life is hard, family's are difficult enough and you can't choose your family.
