I found out yesterday I have fibroids and my dad's been apologising for being so hard on me before we knew.

Like, it's nice that he's realised but he also doesn't like to talk about female reproduction things.

That's weird. SO like, before you had an official diagnosis, he simply didn't believe your symptoms? What an ass. So many men are embarrassingly ignorant about women's health issues, and their ignorance makes them dismissive and mean. Here I'm thinking about all those dumbass men who think women can just clench down and not have a period or something.

Nope. If I commented that I had cramps the night before he'd suggest walking it off before I'd have to explain that it wasn't leg cramps.

We really need an overhaul in understanding women's health because not a lot of men understand that we CAN control periods, but with medication and not our all powerful women mindsets. And sometimes we have bad ones that are really debilitating. Heck I'll never forget having a really bad cramp day in grade 7 (1996) and my friend explaining it to the teacher and she insisting I'll be fine.

That's just embarrassing for him, but most men who are that ignorant about how a woman's body works lack the self-awareness to realize they OUGHT to be ashamed by how little they know.
