nayrt - They say the mean ones live forever. Seriously, what is UP with all the cranky old farts who are convinced Trump's presidency means prices will plummet and we'll go back to the good old days? And by good old days I mean with much more vocal, rampant racism, hate crimes and women barefoot and pregnant and trapped in shitty marriages with no escape.

I'm just shocked by how uneducated people are. Do they really just listen to his speeches and have no impulse to fact check or look on Wikipedia for what certain things mean? His views on other issues aside, Trump supporters don't seem to understand that *we* have to pay tarriffs, not foreign countries. He's more middle class compared to us so I'm not sure if he'll even be affected by them, but it is so, so frustrating.

"Your overtime won't be taxed next year, though!" My workplace is decent and doesn't even give overtime, why should I take that as a benefit?

It's baffling, truly. The most I can figure is that it's down to a lot of things: lack of education and critical thinking skills, blinding ignorance about how government and the world at large works, combined with the not-so-secret fact that what they do like about Trump is that he's willing to champion racist, hateful, sexist, bigoted thinking and policies and they like that a LOT so nothing else matters.

I was in school during the Bush administration, and it was... Bad. I'm sure it's gotten worse now which would explain how young adults are. But for people older than that? I just don't understand, it's just choosing to be ignorant. I'm not super well educated since I didn't do well in school due to untreated ADHD and couldn't afford to go to college, but I still can use Google and search what things mean. There's no excuse for that. If you buy into Trump's bullshit, you're not a victim, you signed up for it.
