I was gonna say, the main point of Avatar is that the humans doing the genociding are in fact wrong about doing that. It's not even in the ballpark of being subtle.

Yeah, but also no.

The Navi are kinda a backwards people heading towards, at best, stagnation and a long slow slide to extinction and doing nothing with their planet. Humanity is the one out among the stars, actively searching for knowledge and solutions to humanity's problems.

Sure, humanity is not perfect, but at least they have not become an insular and isolationist species. The Navi could have shared, could have traded, but they were just as racist towards the humans in the first movie and that bit them hard of the ass.

We didn’t watch the same movie, did we.

Just with different filters, one of us was far less angry for a start.

That is... an incredibly uncharitable reading of the movie, to the point of being deliberately obtuse for the sake of an argument. The movie itself does not paint the Navi as being backwards or wrong and are the victims of the humans greed, it's very, very clear to the point that even a child can pick up on it.

There is the message they want to tell, and the message they put on the screen. Those are not always the same thing. The movie did a lot of showing the latter while trying to tell the former.

I'm sorry you have worse reading comprehension than a child. Have a good evening.
