I've always thought Angel and Buffy (characters) were the worst of Angel and Buffy (shows).

I think they suffer from Main Character Shortcomings. They have to be slightly boring so viewers can attach to the MC, and they have to be more easily "good"/"selfless" than other characters as well as a regularly flawed IRL human being. It can be a little annoying for me LOL
