As someone who uses their bookmarks as a rec list and has more than 2000 bookmarks across dozens of fandoms: you're welcome. ;)

I'm glad if anyone finds new fics to read that way! I love rec lists and I love how easy AO3 makes it to bookmark fics for that purpose.

I mostly keep my bookmarks public, the only ones I don't are the pure indulgent smut stuff that I don't want even the relative anominity of fandom to see. xD

I kept all my bookmarks private from 2015-2021, and then my friend published an absolute BANGER of a fic. I wanted everyone and their brother to see it, so that got a public bookmark. Then I started going through my bookmarks like, “Why does THIS one need to be private? Why would I be embarrassed to let people know I enjoyed it?” Now all my bookmarks are public, and I have a Word document with links to the really nasty stuff I WOULD be embarrassed by. :D

I definitely use other people's bookmarks for recs so 100% agree.

Though gotta keep tabs on who sees your profile. An IRL acquantaince once linked their ao3 profile for their original writing but it had public bookmarks full of porn. I didn't say anything and next time i checked the profile the bookmarks were locked, lol

LOL I bookmark fics not in fandoms I write for and not the sort of stuff I write XD I never thought anyone would look at my bookmarks so I can only wonder what people think of my bookmarks as compared to my published fic XD

Oh god, same. There were so many "horrible nuclear death" novels at the time, they were everywhere! Some people talk about the bunker cult and incest horror, but what got me was the very normal family dying of radiation poisoning while the youngest child protected herself at all times and they had to go beg for help for her while the other kids died.

Other kinks, I could at least understand. Even after watching The Borgias, I still didn't get it. Oh mood, I'm not familiar with the fandom but those are some pretty egregiously offputting looking anthros in that image. And I agree that they tend to be pretty aesthetically unpleasant most of the time. I've definitely had stuff that seemed otherwise interesting that I couldn't get into because it had bad-to-look-at anthro characters.

Is it possible we can not have these for awhile? The last several posts have just been nothing but wank or attempts at it, I have no problem with political discussion if it's relevant to a secret posted but I don't see why this has to be here. Are not other active DW comms to discuss this, besides FFA?
