Reminds me of when a friend told me of an episode of SVU (because by that point I'd already been turned off to it but enjoyed talking to my friend about it) where the episode ended on a triumphant note where there was a new law that makes especially violent rape cases have longer prison sentences.

And I was like "rapes are violent enough as they are....so....why not just....make any rape charges be long sentences? Also, will longer sentences really deter rapists from stopping?? Cuz current laws still has a lot of rapists doing what they do..."

Yeah...just...I really hate Dick Wolf and the brainwashing he's done to American culture.
