LOL Yesss. Zack Snyder's Superman is a put upon god who has to internalize his pains and "do the right thing" because he is all powerful god and he has a mom and a girlfriend. And he has a tragic past so he gets pains.
Christopher Reeves' Superman knows that there are those too weak to have the power to do effective good and he has that power to do the good others cannot, because there are too often people who have power and do harm with it.
How hard is it to understand that Superman's strongest power is his compassion? Something he learned through the love and care from his human parents and through discovering the sacrifice his biological father/parents did to save his life?
It reminds me of Peter Cullen's inspiration for Optimus Prime was from his brother who advised for him to "be strong enough to be gentle".
Snyder = be stoic and stand still when a bird lands on one's shoulder as this powerful god must not hurt this tiny little bird
Reeves = reach a hand out, let the bird rest on one's finger and appreciate this moment in nature with a life as small as a bird

With that said, I honestly don't know how to feel about Zack Snyder. I originally enjoyed "300" a lot, but through the years, I began to like it less and less with every following Snyder film I watched.

I'll have to rewatch it again one day.

My biggest issue with Snyder's films is that the visuals are wonderful to look at but the storytelling is terrible. I'm usually bored with almost no character to feel invested in.

And this is just my personal opinion and relationship to Snyder's works.

His weirdly cultish fanbase never made it easy to fairly critique his works, and in more recent years I've wondered if his fans have made me harsher on him and his works than is deserving.
But then again, he's a big fan of Ayn Rand and apparently his lifelong passion project has been to make an "Atlas Shrugged" film.
And that has definitely colored my opinions on his works.

Like, IDK. Snyder seems to want to make films that mean a lot to viewers, but they tend to only mean a lot to dudes who like overtly masculine visual storytelling. And I'm aware that a lot of people who have worked with Snyder have said he's great to work for and isn't a creep or egomaniac like many of his contemporaries.

I simply want to dislike Snyder films because I don't like them. I don't want to have long arguments over his works. Sometimes they're just...not for me.
ToT

I don't get this level of shit from disliking Michael Bay films X[

Bay at least has a sense of humor about his works. He's willing to make fun of himself, I think is the reason Bay fans are not quite so vociferous.
