Politics is an inherently controversial topic unlike dinner or what people are doing on the weekend and it's being deliberately obtuse to say it isn't.

Fwiw I am a believer in "everything is political" and "politics is technically relevant to everything" but also a firm believer in picking and choosing what topics to discuss where. All that politics on FS will achieve is making people angry, changing zero minds, and making most people feel worse, which trolls want and idiots don't want but apparently don't realize is the inevitable result.

The split-off happened and everybody agreed with it for a reason.

I said politics is relevant, not that it isn't controversial. (Although to be fair, dinner can be controversial if you're talking pineapple on pizza. That's a joke, by the way.)

I'm not sure what your complaint is. It's your choice to not participate in a political thread, and thanks to the split-off, you never have to look at one. Let people be trolls and/or idiots. Unless you're actively seeking out the threads, I'm not sure why it bothers you at all.

And don't assume what people will take away from a political post.

Oh, I see. Here's where we're talking at odds:

I said I consider them either trolls or idiots that are getting nowhere. Which they are.

I did not say "people should stop posting" or "this bothers me greatly." As you said, people can be those things and do those things if they want, and this is what I think of them when they do.

Do you have a complaint with that?

The obvious point of this being a secret is that I don't go telling people the above. I've never told anyone to stop posting, and the politics thread is easy enough to ignore now. The entire secret is that I judge the people who participate in it from a distance, which seems to be going over your head.

But I suspect you're ducking under the point on purpose, so not gonna bother to entertain you any more.

Thank you, geez. Especially when the politics posting on here is regurgitated social media behavior of name calling and not real discussion. I go on DW to avoid that.
