As someone who is venting here sometimes - not really. Despite annoying characters we have anonymity at least. You can't get it on your socials.
But venting in your notebook isn't the same. You want to be heard even if you are being heard wrong

I figured the better places they meant were spaces where people share your political views and would agree and help you feel better, as opposed to a place where anyone can comment anything, sincerely or unsincerely.

I mean. Every place is open though? Only if you discuss with your closest friends I guess you can get similar opinions. I rather have some troll anon than knowing that my mutual on twitter or an aunt on fb is a (insert something you very oppose to) sometimes. If I am venting. If I am not, I would like to know what friends I want to lose

Huh. I'm surprised you think that way. There are definitely groups that are for example specifically for leftists that where vents about Trump and vents about establishment Democrats' failures would be taken well and responded to with sympathy, and there are definitely groups specifically for conservatives that would not take them well at all. Venting about abortion in a redpill forum is not going to go well at all, but venting about it in a feminist group will likely go well indeed.

I sure as hell don't vent to people I know IRL! I seek out groups that generally agree with the things I care about and encourage political discussion and sharing news of those things. And no, most of them are not open to "fairly" entertaining polar opposite views because they are not trying to be neutral spaces like the open internet. An LGBTQ space is not going to "fairly" entertain people who think they are morally wrong for example, nor should they. Certainly that would be a more useful - to yourself, to get a sympathetic and understanding response - place to discuss, or vent about homophobia than random people on AO3, even if you assume the majority of those people are liberal. It's not a weird thing to point that out.

I think our experiences and opportunities are just different. But tbf I do not usually get angry with disagreement, so I am probably not an anon thread started about.

I promise I'm not trying to be insulting or anything but I'm not too sure about that. It's not like I found the political spaces I frequent by accident? I had to go looking for them, and anyone online has the same opportunities to find places for themselves. Chalking it up to different opportunities sounds like some people are randomly stumbling into political spaces that suit them while walking down the street and others aren't and that's not really how it happens for anyone. Especially if those spaces curate their content and members like an anon comm does not.

Maybe it's worth looking some more, if you want places to vent that aren't open to whoever and whatever may stumble along?
