Gojo/Toji (only thing I ship in JJK). They killed each other! That's the start of wonderfully messed up relationship.

I know Steve/Thor isn't rare compared to small fandoms, but I really love that ship.

I always enjoyed John/Lestrade back in the day.

I like Steve/Thor, too. Two fish out of water!

I will give almost any pairing out of the core first wave of Avengers a try.

All of my pairs rare since I don't do popular fandoms lol
But also in big fandoms I tend to gravitate towards rare pairs mostly because you don't need to suffer through what fandom considers characterization.
I am salty today for no reason

+1 I love that brand of salt.

Thank you! :D
I sometimes go to a big fandoms hoping to have something to read. And met with a cold cold reality. Argh.

What's something you've gotten back into?

(Anonymous) 2024-11-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I started watching Call the Midwife again after not watching for several years. I forgot about how much I loved some of these characters. I strive to be a Miss Higgins or Nurse Crane.

I just finished re-reading Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.
Back in the day is was a series I had started to love but ended up hating because of the confusing ending.
10 years later, I've enjoyed it a lot more and understand the ending better (although still leaving me with a lot of questions). Plus I'm delving into all the Kurogane/Fair fics on AO3 before I get tempted to dive into the older fics that are still on ffnet.

Ahh, that takes me back. Did you read xxxHolic too? I remember being super disappointed with the endings for both, but I wonder if I'll feel differently if I reread them now.

gotten back into Buzzfeed Unsolved recently. not enough to watch anything Watcher Entertainment related after that announcement a few months back, but they're not getting revenue from Unsolved anymore so I don't feel guilty.

Advice

[personal profile] philstar22 2024-11-27 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Trying to pick where to go for my 40th this coming summer. We realized beaches are probably going to be too humid and obnoxiously crowded in summer. Things I want:

1. Not to terribly hot and humid. One or the other, but not both
2. Interesting museums or something fun to do
3. But also good for relaxing
4. Worth spending a whole week at.
5. Reasonably affordable.

SF bay area!

Re: Advice

(Anonymous) 2024-11-27 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
contiguous US only? your options are limited to the upper midwest depending on what you mean by "summer." Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan have everything except museums for any stretch between early June and Labor Day, I have no idea what fun there would be besides uh camping? but it wouldn't be hot or humid and would be affordable and presumably relaxing. The Dakotas, Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio have considerably less in terms of "worth spending a whole week" and Chicago is not exactly affordable.

Don't go to the Dells, though, it's nothing but a shit version of Disneyland.

Agree that your choices seem limited to upper U.S. and the coast at that time of year. SF bay area would have lots to do, (probably) decent weather and natural beauty. Affordability depends on where you'd be staying, though. Pacific NW might also be nice for the same reasons, but with less of a big city feel and attractions.

If you're able to go as far as Canada, Vancouver is a cool city.

Depending on time and money:

Belgium.

Beautiful country, good climate for us overheaters. Good food for us overeaters. Museums and amazing architecture. Not sure on the exchange rate for you, but cheap enough to GET there at least.

Random celebrity trash talking.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-27 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know that it's not nice to trash talk a woman's appearance. But every time I see Lauren Sanchez, I wonder what's the point of dating one of the richest men on the planet if you cannot find a decent plastic surgeon?

https://www.boredpanda.com/jeff-bezos-fiancee-lauren-sanchez-cryptic-message-awkward-wedding-interview/

I'm not trashing plastic surgery in general but damn, that's a bad look.

Re: Random celebrity trash talking.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-27 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think some people just genuinely like the "extreme plastic surgery" look. It's not just they try to reverse it. And she's plenty wealthy herself, she could have afforded subtle if she wanted subtle.

LOL, Bezos clearly loves it. It just looks so UNCOMFORTABLE, like her face is stretched way too tight and her lips are stuck in a permanent trout pout.

I totally get the shit talking LOL I try my best not to be a shallow judgemental sort of person on the daily but I can't help being judgemental from time to time.

I agree with the comment reply upthread that some people like the extreme plastic surgery look. It's another way to flex wealth in a gaudy way, like the extremely ugly designer clothes and accessories. Or gold plated everything as decor.

I wanna shit talk someone as well!

So back in the day there was this behind the scenes documentary about the making of The Greatest Showman. And they had this video from the first full read/singthrough that was important for the movie to get greenlit. And during the "From now on" song, there was this lady who, in my opinion, kind of ruined the song because she kept literally screeching through the second half of it - it was clearly one of those self-absorbed primadonna "I'm so great at adlibbing and I'M the main character here" types. I've had to deal with some of these so often during several theatre productions and they always piss me off.
Well, I just learned that that was apparently Cynthia Erivo. And all I could think was "lol yeah, checks out" considering her recent tantrums.
