It's never too late. You can always add a side-blog attached to your main account and go crazy with your ship - and if things go south, you can always delete it without affecting your main and start again.

Aw, what's stopping you? As much as I dislike Tumblr, it's... the most mainstream website I still use, and it's easy to use. I made an entire friend circle 5 years ago just from making a new account on a throwaway email and interacting with an active side of it, it isn't too late.

Yeah I can't get back into it. I barely managed to go into it back in the day, but now that ship has completely sailed. Which is too bad because it seems like the main fandom space still.

I got into tumblr in the last year or so after getting into a fandom that was mostly on tumblr and discord (but I hate discord)! I made a blog, scrolled the fandom tags, followed some people, and it went easily from there.

I think the issue is depending on the fandom, there won't be anyone to really talk to. Using DW for fandom often feels like talking to myself. As much as I despise Tumblr, it doesn't feel like that there.

True. This is me for Monkey Island. It's not big on Tumblr (it's not big anywhere) but there's a handful of folks. On Dreamwidth it's absolutely crickets.
