Way, way back in the day, before I knew what shipping was and with my patchy pre-teen understanding of adult relationships, I shipped David and Maddie on Moonlighting so hard... and then they got together. And, wow, it was a huge trainwreck, like action-movie trainwreck - with one train carrying nuclear weapons and the other carrying sharks that can fly. Honestly, given the characters, it was always going to be messy, but damn if it didn't seem like the writers wanted everyone who had been rooting for them to fervently root against them.
