Do you have a dashcam? I got one for Christmas last year and today was the first time I actually pulled something from it (someone almost hit me). I was wondering how many people here had one.

I’ve had one about 3-4 years. I record every second behind the wheel but have never needed anything I recorded.

I live too close to the Irish Sea Ferries to not have one. Although police crackdowns in the last few years have seen the need for it decrease. Plus people have learned to put big distances between themselves and cars with Irish plates on them.

I am fascinated by this comment, what does it mean? Are there a lot of dangerous drivers? Does the side of the road change? Corrupt police like in Russia meaning you need to record for your own safety?

For a long time a major source of income for certain criminal elements in Ireland was causing/faking car crashes and then either committing insurance fraud or taking money at the roadside in exchange for not suing. It was a whole thing.
