Not everyone lives near a library. You can get new books in the mail from online stores, libraries generally don't do that.

Does your library not lend ebooks? I thought pretty much every library started doing it during the pandemic if they hadn't already. I haven't physically set foot in mine for a few years now but I still borrow books constantly thanks to that.
