I liked him as a villain. I disliked him when they tried to redeem him and then retroactively pretend he was never a villain.

JKR. She's not trans-hating like everyone claims she is. At least the antis could throw in a mustache twirl while shrieking TERF!

Is your head in the sand or in your ass?

DA

I assume both, which is why they're so irritated.

You have poor taste, that was 10/10.

In some world that isn't reality, perhaps.

It's atop my neck where it's been since my creation.

Doesn't answer the question.

It does. My head is atop my neck, not in my ass, anyone else's ass, or in the sand.

You'll never get that acceptance letter to Hogwarts, you know that right?

But I've never wanted to attend.

The Klingons. When they were villains, which I'm not sure about at this point in my watching journey. Still boring, either way.

as a longtime Trek fan, the Klingons are the most boring villain but the most fun antihero/gray protag faction. They're basically vikings as portrayed in pop culture, everyone loves the hard-drinking, hard-fighting warrior class when they're not your enemy.

Re: Boring Villains

(Anonymous) 2024-12-07 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'll try to imagine them in long-ships next time I get to a Klingon episode. I don't skip eps because something important might happen and I don't want to miss that. But I regret the time I wasted slogging through S1 of Discovery. Bleh.

Sphene in the current FFXIV Dawntrail expac. She was literally just watered down, blatantly obvious, shoe-horned in girl!Emet-Selch and I'll die on that hill.

Warren from season 6 of Buffy and Adam from season 4.

The villains from the last season of Criminal Minds before the revival. That whole season was super underwhelming.

Disagree on part of this. Warren was mildly terrifying because he's the only BtVS villain you could conceivably encounter in real life: the misogynistic, entitled incel nerd who feels like he's owed sex and supremacy. He wasn't fantastic, in the sense of being mythical, but he did move the plot in a very not-boring direction with his killing of Tara (which I don't like in general, but I do recognise the momentum of Evil Willow).

The Godwins from Suikoden 5. Gizel was admittedly a little more interesting than his old man, but not even dirty plots could save them from being such bland characters.

Corypheus from Dragon Age: Inquisition. I kept waiting for him to a be a red herring; like, he dies midway through the final act and the actual endgame villain is revealed! ... nope, the game played it completely straight.
