Are you looking forward to Christmas?

Or is it too soon? I've got mixed feelings. Unlike Thanksgiving, I'm not hosting Christmas so it's less work for me - yay! I also like buying and wrapping presents for my family and doing some holiday baking. It's a lot easier and nicer to do one or two appetizer or dessert type dishes as my contribution instead of having to plan a whole meal. But... I don't enjoy the traveling to see family part. I'm lazy, I hate the cold, I wish I could stay at home and teleport instead of driving. But unfortunately, it can't be helped if I want to celebrate with family.

Eh. I used to really like Christmas but about 10 or 15 years ago, my uncle retired and from then on invited himself to our home for around 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year and it kind of killed my enthusiasm because it's just too long a stay. But he has no friends in the city where he lives and he's a bit developmentally and physically disabled so I can't really say anything. Also the relationship with my parents, me and my brother has become a bit strained over the years because my brother has some undiagnosed mental issues (I suspect something in the realm of schizophrenia) due to some drug habits so it's always walking on eggshells to not set him off. He also has a dog that he insists of bringing with him and while I don't hate dogs, I'm definitely not a dog person and he gets in the way a lot. Also one of my main migraine triggers is smell so that's always fun.

I've been playing Christmas music since early November, which is weird because I don't feel very Christmas-y even now. I love the Christmas mood, but too much in current events is kind of spoiling it right now. That said, I did put out half my Christmas decorations so far and hope to at least enjoy Christmas Day (not that I want the days around it to suck).
