The thought that the mouse lived that long, and Paul as a human could live even longer, fucked me up in both the film and the novel. And Paul doesn't even get to have Mr Jingles as company as in the novel he dies (admittedly at a point still extremely long lived for a mouse.)

Yeah sorry OP, but hard disagree. I like her and enjoy her dynamic with Death, but I'm not gonna yell at you for it. You don't care for her and that's fine.

Eh. I never really enjoyed Susan, either. She's just...annoying. And she makes Death sad/anxious, which also annoys.

I suppose you've made it redundant for me to say "I strongly disagree" but I do. I would argue likable at least. For "Engaging" I can see a little of your point, but would say perhaps she just didn't have much room for her to really shine the way Weatherwax, or Aching, or any of his other female characters took to the lime light, but I THINK what she needed was a stronger supporting cast.

You wanna talk "Unlikeable" and have an argument with the Discworld fandom... I simply do not dig on Angua. I know what he was going for. I recognise that he achieved it. I just don't like her.

I think Susan turned out exactly the way Pratchett intended her to: as the kind of person who doesn't give a toss if people like her or not.

I find Susan likeable and engaging, but there are plenty of characters on the disc and I think it's entirely fair that we're not all going to like the same ones.

This one feels entitled asf to me, idk. "I'd read more if authors met me halfway and started writing shit I wanted to read again," as if all authors know you personally, and are purposefully DEPRIVING you of your god-given right to read books with YOUR favorite narration style. Never mind it is THEM putting in their blood, sweat and tears into this project.

Idk, you could easily say "I wish I could find more books that are third person, past tense, omniscient". But instead you say it like you think authors are all idiots ("it's not that hard") who (customer service nightmare voice) are losing a VERY VALUABLE CUSTOMER!

On the one hand, I do think the Twilight hate was in part because of how we tend to treat girls. On the other hand, I think Twilight hate also came from people being resentful that it wasn't more of a "fight the big bad" fantasy than a romance novel.

This comes off as some major projection tbh, just like when playing villains actors are acting, we don't know why they decide to play the roles they do, in a lot of cases actors also get 'stuck' doing certain types of roles so some may want to play a villain but can't get out of the good guy casting.

It would be just as silly to claim that actors who always play villains are actually terrible people, because why else would they pick bad guys????? When we know that's not how it works.
