For me, this is frustrating as all get out - even with a bow drill, it takes forever. Using flint is much cooler, the sparks are really neat. But if the sun is out, a magnifying glass is so easy (as a matter of fact, it's a little too easy - accidental burns of things you did not mean to burn are very common). Brought to you by someone who is not much of an outdoors person, but the people around me at various times were, so I have some (reluctantly learned) outdoor skills.
