I can see why people would prefer Spirited Away (and I do like it), but Princess Mononoke is my favourite Ghibli film by far. I'm not even a big Ghibli fan. But Princess Mononoke is just... great cinema.

I think they both are the one good movies from Ghibli in general. Yes, even Howl's moving castle or the Graveyard of Fireflies are boring.

I think it is, saying that Ghibli movies bore you is like slapping your grandma to some anime lovers.
