Christmas decorations

Did you buy or make any new decorations this year, or do you have a favorite decoration that you've used for years?

I usually buy a tree ornament every year and got a little plastic angel playing a trumpet at the start of December.
Also, I have the same angel for the top of the tree from before I was born which my Mum made out of a sewing doll and glued the fabric onto her. Other than replacing the gold cardboard wings last year, it's still going strong after 35 years - so it's definitely my favorite decoration.

Where I live, you *mainly* decorate with chocolate and candles. Buying them and setting them up (the chocolate has strings that need to be tied, the candles need to be put into clips) is a huuuuuuuge deal every year as is picking the chocolate - there's the "I just care about flavour" camp and the "but it's so prettily wrapped" camp.
Aside from edible/burnable stuff we have a few glass ornaments from my grandparents which we carefully unpack and use every year. Was going to go nuts and get some of those clip-on bird things this year but ran out of time.

The candy decorations sound like such a fun idea :D

I got some snowflake lights from Amazon (ugh, I know) that I like to put out during Christmas and leave out until spring. (The other Christmas decorations get put away long before that time, though.)

I have ceramic dog bone ornaments with the names of all of our past and present dogs, so I got a new one for new dog.

Other than that, it's the same ornaments. I usually add one or two a year.

I was looking at this delightful maximalist tree yesterday from a story in the New York Times. It's a lot of fun! https://www.instagram.com/whilefloriansleeps/?hl=en

My favorites are the ones from my childhood that my mom divided up and gave to each of us (four siblings and me). I have some from the year I was born, a few that family members made, and then just some old ones that make me happy (one is a little gnome sitting on a log). I've bought a few more through the years, but those old ones are my favorites and what make it feel like Christmas.

I work with toddlers and this year we made salt dough handprint ornaments. No idea if the parents like that stuff or just toss it, but it's fun to make and think about those kids grown and looking back and those becoming their own nostalgia ornaments.

As a parent, I keep and cherish those ornaments.

Despite growing up in a household where all seasons were decorated and the traditions eagerly anticipated, I almost never decorate. Sometimes I want to, but honestly I feel like I do well to keep up with laundry and dishes. :(

We used to have a big fake tree in the den. But now that remains in the attic 'cause it's too much trouble to bring downstairs w/o something hurting or somebody possibly falling. Now we just have a small fake tree standing on the window sill that you can plug in and light up.
