Oh, huh. My experience has been, "cishet white women are bad."

Yeah, this. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of badly written women characters (because there are a lot of male writers and a lot of them suck at writing women) and I don't think it's wrong to criticize the way a woman character is written if she clearly has no personality and only exists to be a love interest, but the hate that female characters get overall is just ridiculous.

In one of my fandoms, the partner of the fandom fave/"hot guy" character gets so much hate. She's a complex, interesting, flawed character and the amount of "she's not good enough for him!" comments I constantly see is seriously annoying, especially because she hasn't done anything "worse" than some of the male characters, yet they never get nearly the amount of criticism she does.

Yup. The female love interest of the fave male character is almost always considered "not good enough," or a bitch or what-have-you. Equally worthy of contempt are female characters who aren't the male fave's love interest, but who argue with him, or just dare not to agree with him about everything.

In my fandom, they even hate the male fave's mother, because she gets frustrated and upset with him when he acts impulsively and gets not only himself, but the rest of his community, in trouble. They say she doesn't deserve him for a son, doesn't deserve his love!
