I love Anna. I was so disappointed when the spoilers I'd read about her being in 5.02 turned out to be wrong. I hope she really does come back this season.

I think the show has a bad habit of writing episodes that destroy any hope of the female characters becoming popular -- both "Red Sky at Morning" and "Heaven and Hell" pretty much guaranteed that I could never like either Bela or Anna. Some things just can't be made up for.

If it makes you feel any better, when Julie told a friend of mine at Vancon that nothing was official yet, but she was pretty sure she'd be back this season.

I liked her, thought her plotline was stupid. Still waiting for it to become awesome.

How about you give me a strong, independent female character who doesn't exist solely to screw and/or bother the Winchester boys, and I'll be more than happy to "deal" with her?

Oh, right. They already did that with Ellen and Jo, and the fans who love Anna and Ruby so much whined and bitched until they got written off the show for two seasons. Whoops.

This reads as if you're assuming the secret-poster doesn't like Ellen and Jo, which seems a bit unfair. She didn't say anything about them in her secret. (I personally love Ellen, Jo, Bela and Ruby, although I can take or leave Anna. Liking Ruby doesn't necessarily equal Ellen-and-Jo-hating!)

I loved her character, too.

And I think the actress is beyond beautiful. However, I think her delivery of the character was awful. She completely threw me out of every scene she was in. :(

I don't think she got reduced strictly because people couldn't deal with female characters. Castiel clicked beyond his male advantage.

why do you blame the fangirls for it? Do they really have that much influence on how a show goes? :/

Heaven and Hell was such an unfortunate episode for... everyone, really, but especially Anna. She grew on me as the season progressed, though, and I'd really like for her to come back in S5 now.

I don't agree that she got her role reduced because batshit fangirls couldn't deal with a female character. I think it was more the overwhelming response to Castiel's character that was the catalyst for the switch.

Honestly, I like Anna and I was more than angry that Cas betrayed her to her (seeming) end, but I can't imagine her having played Cas's role this whole time. That actress isn't up to it, in my opinion. Still, I do hope Anna comes back - provided they write her a little stronger.

Honestly, I've liked a lot of SPN's female characters but having Anna turn out to be an angel kinda ruined her for me. I'd rather them keep bringing back Ellen and Jo, both of whom I actually wholeheartedly love, than Anna.

I actually really liked Anna. Shame about the terrible, TERRIBLE plotlines they threw her at. I mean, she had to find her ~grace? REALLY?

I hated the way Kripke wrote HaH but I hate even more her role got reduced to make the rest of the season and scenes she WAS in so damned awkward. Fuck you writers for getting lazy (ier). I want her back so bad and not just because I think she's so god damned beautiful lol. :((

I don't like Anna. I, do however, like Ellen, Jo, Meg, Ruby, Bela, Madison, Missouri, and pretty much every other female character the show has thrown at us. So don't tell me that I can't deal with female characters. I can. I just can't deal with badly written, 2D ones.

To be honest, at first she did come off as a pretty horrible character; mysterious pretty girl who hears angels, turns out she actually IS a fallen angel, the boys have to help her get her grace back, and she gets to boink Dean. It's like the worst kind of self-insert fic.

However, she grew on me after she got her grace back, and I was genuinely sad when she got captured.

Anna was badly written and poorly cast. While Ruby really grew on me after a while and I loved Pamela. I love Kripke to death, but he is almost incompetent when it comes to female characters.

I adore Anna. I think she kicks ass, and I hope to see some more of her. But she's pretty much a giant Sue-like character at her base. Not a Mary Sue exactly, but what do you call a character who is a fallen angel (who un-falls sort of), has an unusual hair color (red) and gets to sleep with one of the main characters? Could we have at least skipped the random sex? *sigh*

Her role was reduced? Just tell me nothing if she comes back in the latter half of season 4 (haven't seen it yet) but I just thought her character was there purely to show an angel could fall and what happens when they do. Pretty much a filler character then anything else. That said she was interesting so if she is coming back at the end of the season I'll have to ask more about role reducing.

I avoid fandom and just lurk on the outside of comms like the newsletter ones.

I like Anna. What I hate is misogyny wank.

I could not agree more. One of my least favorite things about the SPN fandom is how utterly misogynistic the fangirl/fanwomen are. It's so freaking sad.
