In the event you're being serious...

I'm not sure how you personally pronounce Michael, but in English the "Mi" is pronounced like "My" and the "ch" is pronounced with a hard c. If you can't hear the similarity between "my cocaine" and "Michael Caine" then I'm not sure what to tell you.

You forgot the second half of Michael. If the name was Mika (my-kah) that would make sense - do people round the Ls or not pronounce them? I suppose that could be it.

I think maybe some are taking "sounds like" too literally. It's not an EXACT, letter for letter match. But one sounds like the other.

That's kind of a weird assertion, given that the first and last syllables would be pronounced exactly the same and they have the same number of syllables. And, yes, there's a difference between 'kuhl' and 'koh' of the second syllable, but not much of one, especially with a Cockney accent.

Not only is that the joke, it's a very common one, and a mishearing Caine has claimed to have encountered in the wild.
