Same here. One of the main reasons why I fell for Sonic as a kid way bac in the 90s/2000s was because he wasn't a stereotypical hero at all. He lives for freedom. He just follows his heart, fights people like Eggman because he hates oppressors/bullies. He doesn't have a strict moral code and doesn't seem to have any qualms killing his enemies as Erazor Djinn, Solaris and Evil King Arthur can attest to. He's also left Eggman for dead multiple times over the years without batting an eyelash or wangsting about the sanctity of life.

If Sonic was actually a Superhero, I wouldn't have given him the time of day.
