Yeah, I get this part. Like every fandom has embarrassing people in it, you don't get to shit on another person's fandom for being cringe when yours has a bunch of awful people in it too. And no fandom is free of awful people.

Holding the non-awful people responsible for it, though is where it kinda goes too far in judging them. Pop bandom doesn't get to shit on country music fans, sure, but saying "you guys happening to have racists who are fans of the same thing is on you, and the onus is on you to somehow root them out and make them stop liking the thing you like" is... just not true, or fair, you know?
