Every year my sister misspells both my names when she mails me her annual christmas card.

the person who pulled my name for Secret Santa one year gave me a bunch of monogrammed stuff.
With the wrong initial. (I have a first name that is almost always spelled with a specific letter.)

yup. obviously a deliberate fuckup

That's the kind of thing that makes me fantasise about eating souls.

IMO, monogrammed anything is a crap gift even if the person gets it right. I don't get the whole appeal of having your name/initials all over stuff.

I found out recently my brother doesn’t know my married name. My 20th anniversary is in a couple months.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-02 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
That's some passive aggressive fucking bullshit.

Just... wow.

If it helps you, when I was a child I asked for a fox (zorro) plush and I got a skunk (zorrillo) plush. And they were out of stock, so I had to stay with the skunk plush.

Aww, I'm sorry about that, OP. I get how disappointing that can be. Every year I ask for something specific like a certain book or something for my collection and I always say I don't want clothes, but I end up getting clothes and not the one thing I wanted. This was the first year that I actually got what I wanted and nothing else and I was so happily surprised that I cried.

I'm sorry OP.

Honestly, I don't like to tell people specific things I want as a gift because I usually don't tend to get what I want. Instead I always get something slightly related to the specific thing I want. So I give people loose gift ideas. Like this year on my wish list I wrote down "skincare products, nail polish, hair clips" so that my friends and family can do as much or as little as they want.

If I had requested for the exact brand of toner or face cream I want, I would likely get brands that I don't like and it would piss me the fuck off that I asked for something specific to get not that.
Whereas "skincare products", if they get me a toner or face cream of a brand I don't use I can at least be grateful they got me skincare products.

The only time I ask for something specific is when it's someone I know who can be depended on to get me exactly what I want.

I gave up on expecting my family to get gifts right, so I started a gift list online with links to specific items. It's caused a lot less drama and pain for all of us.
