The struggle is so real </3

Oh same. I can't maintain momentum for more than one chapter, even if it's really long, as eventually my ideas dry up. Keeping a story going is hard, if I ever did multi-chapter fic I'd have to make sure it was all written before I started posting.

I feel you.

I've been sitting on the last chapter of the first fic I've written in ages for...uh...a year, now?

I simply can't figure out how to transition between where the second-to-last chapter ended off to where I want the last chapter to go in a way that actually satisfies me.

(And trying to get original fiction going is even worse...)

could you just time jump? like to don't bother with a transition, just move to the part you want to write? I only suggest it because I have been known to get stuck because I think every detail and transition needs to be written about and then I'm like "oh, I don't actually need this..." and it happens almost every time.

I may end up resorting to a longer time skip (there's already a bunch of travel skipped), just to get it done, but the reason I wasn't skipping ahead to begin with is the fic mostly takes place over the course of a single date, and skipping over the non-travel parts just feels less than satisfying.

Yep, I haven't been writing lately, but back when I was writing a lot I stuck to one shots so I wouldn't get stuck and leave the fic abandoned.

So, this used to be me, nonny. I kept getting bitten by stories ideas that were well beyond what I knew how to write. Now, it helps a lot when I write a stripped down synopsis of about one page with everything that has to be in the story. Not details or embellishments. Just cause-effect, this happens, that happens, major scenes in chronological order so I can see if the story fits together in a logical way or if something needs to be changed while it is still basically very simple. Then I can build on that without getting lost. It's cut down on a lot of wasted effort and a lot of not knowing if I will have to make major revisions later.

Oh yeah, I have this... kink thing that I don't even have a fandom for.
