The answer, as always, is because it's fanfiction. None of it's real. No one's getting paid. So do what you want. Write billionaires doing good with their ill-gotten fortunes. It'll have as much impact on the real world as writing them abusing their money and power to hunt toddlers in Thailand, which is to say, very little.

I agree with you. But I think people really should have stuck to these guns with all the things antis try to get ridiculous about. "But it's pedophilia!" Cool. "But it's racism!" Fine. "But this character being shipped with the lead tried to rape her!" Right. In a free story.

I am only ever going to be negatively impressed by people who try to play-act at morality through fiction, and try to pretend if everyone else won't do it with them, we're condoning awfulness.

It's never too late because the conflict is ongoing. But "I'll speak out against cancelling a fictional rich guy" seems like the shortest and least of the hills to defend.
