I feel a bit bad whenever I see people insisting on this. Also, HELL YES nobody cares about this movie. As it should be!

I watched it because Diggens of the Mostly Nitpicking Podcast called it a 130 million dollar movie that should have been a therapy session.

It is such a look into a very specific human's mind. Like, when Caesar is IMMEDIATELY arrested for having sex with an underage vestal virgin (lol, I wish) it turns out that (1) she was actually 23 (that bitch/slut/whore!) AND ALSO (2) the tape was fake so Caesar is double innocent. He's the real victim here! Like, what the fuck? Why couldn't the tape have just been fake and so Caesar's enemies go to jail for creating fake CP? Or he really slept with a lady and just didn't know who she was pretending to be?!?! Oh no, the A U T E U R must be sinless as Mary.

And just! They have these HUGE expensive sets that make no fucking sense. And I don't mean cool nonsensical shit, I mean like... Why are they talking about rebuilding the city on rickety scaffolding over a model of the new city THAT WE CAN"T SEE B E C A U S E THEY"RE STANDING OVER IT?!?!?!? They have beautiful sets just to film shot/reverse shot of dudes talking. And just the WORST sex and murder scenes ever. Sweet Jupiter this movie has it ALL!

And Caesar has magical powers?!? Of control over time??? But he never uses it in the plot and they never use it for anything really cool. Like, sure, a building getting demolished, but you don't need magical scifi imagineering powers to show slowmo of a building going down. You can just do that. Do you want Zach Snyder to STARVE!?!

But I shouldn't rag on the plot. Heaven knows I wasn't paying enough attention anyway.

The visuals though!!!!

Those hanging i-beams!?! MULTIPLE scenes take place up there. Absolutely fucking wild. Why? How? Who cares!!!!

It's a whole movie of that. It just keeps going. And then they have a baby who can stop time which is, honestly, a fucking great premise for a horror movie. That baby is going to kill herself while her parents are frozen in time an unable to save her. AHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't know if I'm weird. Does anyone else, when reading fic, just kind of always picture the characters as a nebulous kind of adult? Even when they are in high school, I picture them as adults when reading a fic. I think because I'm mostly into anime where most of the characters are drawn as adults.
