To be fair, the funniest thing about Threshhold is the way Paris' actor has gone on record at fan conventions as still being shocked and bemused that every fan he talks to hates that episode but when they filmed it he genuinely thought it was going to be brilliant and beloved.

I haven't watched it since it aired, but I don't remember it being that bad?

I am beginning to think it was good I didn't have the internet and access to fandom when I was enjoying Voyager.

I love Voyager. I love even some of the episodes that often make worst lists. But Threshhold is bad. That being said, it is in so bad it is funny territory, so there is that.

AYRT yeah I realized I was very unclear in my reply. I was referring to Innocence, which OP says is somehow worse than Threshold.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Threshold is "bad" in the same way the TOS era is "bad", as in it is funny and campy with a slice of weird. In the nineties that sort of weird camp was out of fashion, watching it now is fun.

Innocence is just bad-bad.

To clarify, I don't remember Innocence being that bad.

Let us not speak of Threshold.

Innocence is only that bad if you think anything with kids in it is bad. I mean, the ultimate plot solution is stupid and makes no sense. But that doesn't make it the worst episode ever.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Did we all not swear a BLOOD OATH never to speak of Threshold again?!?

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
No, that was just you and Tuvix.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Now you speak of the tragedy that was Tuvix? Have you no mercy!

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I had to look up 'Innocence' because I couldn't remember it. I now vaguely remember it and I think it was just meh (not good enough, bad enough, or weird enough to make much of an impression). 'Threshold' was much worse in my opinion, but my top bad episode is 'Parturition'. Interesting, though, that all of them, plus 'Tuvix', were in Season 2.

My top bad one is Elogium. Threshold is a close second, though. And Parturition does make the top 10 worst.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Elogium is bad because it is about Neelix' sex life and non of us want to think about that, ever.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

That one's also a Season 2 episode. I don't what was going on there.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I continue to not remember Innocence, but I'm not curious enough to look it up.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nah Innocence wasn't that bad - but then again I'm very biased because I love Tuvok and its an episode starring him :]

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Innocence is one of my favorite episodes but I think I'm very different to everyone else in that everything with kids in it automatically makes it the favorite list for me. But I also genuinely thought the solution was great. Like, I watch these shows because I *want* the weird non-sensical but surprisingly emotional and 'human' (for lack of a better word) stories, not because I need to tear apart every single plot twist for whether it makes 'sense' with my very limited world view. I loved the idea, I can personally imagine this happening, it was compellingly told and tugged at my heartstrings, that's enough for me.

Threshold is just bad.

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey don't disrespect my Papa Tuvok episode!!

(Anonymous) 2025-01-15 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean care of the elderly, nurse Tuvok. Not Papa Tuvok. Tim Russ deserved so much better out of Voyager, but at least he didn't whinge and moan about it like Robert Beltran did all the time.
