Agreed! I had a lot of fun with it and really need to pick it up on DVD (because god, there isn't enough netflix shows I want on DVD) before it goes out of print or whatever.

Also, I am self-indulgent. The reason I first saw this show is because the main character is half Korean (my ethnicity) and that alone can be a really big motivator sometimes for Shit I Wanna Watch.

I love Kipo! It is very smartly written with humor right up my alley. And of course Timbercats. I know it's a relatively older show (I think 2019?) but I feel like even though it won some awards it seemed like nobody was ever talking about it. I only found it because of a random Netflix suggestion - maybe after I watched Hilda? Idk. But it's a great show.

Nonny ... we're all going to die, we all have problems, and most people will never find you important enough to care what your vulnerabilities are. You deprive yourself by hiding.

The reasonable way to find out who's trustworthy and worth confiding is gradually. You tell them some not-terribly-damaging things and see what they do. If they try to fuck you over with it, they don't get any more sensitive information. But that's also how you find out who won't try to use stuff against you.

Also - in a lot of situations, trust is not an all-or-nothing thing. The better you get to know people, the more you understand what they're good at and bad at, and what things they can't be reasonable about. You know when to trust them, and with what.

I'm sorry, anon. It sounds like your trust was badly betrayed at some point, and that you were cruelly hurt. It's understandable that you would erect strong walls after that, even to the point of making them impenetrable.

But remember who you are. Would you betray someone's trust? Would you use someone's vulnerabilities against them? Likely not. There are other people like you, and it can sometimes be hard to find them, but it's worth the effort. We're social creatures; life is better when we're able to act that way.

I need to start watching the show. I like Jude Law, but I'm tired of a lot of extended lore to [X] franchise that Disney owns.
But I relate a lot to being distant and shutting people out and I like depiction of people who struggle with letting people in.

I hope you do go to therapy Secret OP, and work on your trust issues.

It will not be something where you find a moment to start trusting the "right" people and you will never be betrayed again. It will be a lot of slow and hard work, coping with negative feelings, giving others chances, evaluating what kind of a person you are and who you want to be, and just constant work.
But it will be so worth it to find people whose good outweigh their shortcomings. Who are also flawed but willing to accept you for being your flawed self.

I still struggle a lot with opening up to people, but getting onto the path of learning to work on my flaws and fears, and letting people into my life, it's helped a lot with anxiety and building a stronger (though still small) community.

To be fair, the funniest thing about Threshhold is the way Paris' actor has gone on record at fan conventions as still being shocked and bemused that every fan he talks to hates that episode but when they filmed it he genuinely thought it was going to be brilliant and beloved.
