I personally liked 2 the most and also never was a fan of any of the DAO companions. But I do think Veilguard is much worse on a whole when it comes to the dialogues. DAO (as well as 2 and Inquisition) had a few cringy moments. Veilguard barely has any dialogue that isn't pure cringe.

I'm replaying DAO and it honestly has a lot more cringe than I remembered. I just recruited Zevran, and his dialogue when he asks to join the party gave me the exact feeling I had with a lot of Veilguard writing.

This was the reason I never was a huge fan of the companions in Origins but I still think on the whole, Veilguard was worse because it wasn't just cringe, it was weirdly preachy at times as well.

Yeah, the preachiness is an issue other games in the series don't have. I do think there are good ideas under DAV's cringe presentation, and I really enjoyed parts of it, but it's unfortunate that the bulk of the game feels shallow.
