Re: What is your favorite piece of media that you think no one else here has seen/read/played?

The playstation 2 trilogy of Xenosaga games lmao. These three games are my all time favs and they're never remembered.

(This is not helped by the fact that, for whatever reason, they're not even available to buy on the playstation store or anything. It's literally PS2 discs, emulation, or bust.)

For books, Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton. It's basically a Victorian romance novel. But everyone is dragons.

Is the Xenosaga series the one with the blue robot girl and has ten minute cutscenes after every area? The extremely slow pace of the cutscenes and dialog killed it for me, and if you skipped them you had no idea what was happening because you just missed like four cutscene plot events in a row

LOL LOL LOL it sure is and they're def not for everyone but I love them in all their weird, pretentious, draggy glory and I've never skipped a single cut scene.

I played the trilogy. Even made some shippy Allen/Shion AMVs before YT copyrighted them. My hope is that the use of the trademark (and some characters) in the Xenoblade series means they're gonna loosen up and remake or port them in the near future.

I never played the Xenosaga games, but I used to know a lot of people in fandom who did. I ran into tons of wank in the wild about how much Shion sucks or not. I thought it was one of the big popular series for a while.

nayrt but yeah, Shion's a polarizing character. Mostly because of a line she uttered in the first game that sounds painfully goddamn stupid until the third game gives it context. She also gets increasingly bratty, which again makes sense by the third game.

The only thing I don't really like about her is how she treats Miyuki, who drops everything at the drop of a hat to help her out with stuff. Miyuki works hard but any little setback, even if it isn't Miyuki's fault, gets blown out of proportion and she gets treated like she's incompetent. And the rest of the party isn't much better, acting like it's one big joke. (And maybe it is some kind of joke that other people find funny, but I rather dislike it.)
