Not weird at all - actor does not equal character, no matter how many decades you play him. Still, this is a very weird take since it's clearly a problem for the character on the show- the whole conflict (poorly written as it is) is about how COULD Freddy give up Harvard to be a firefighter and how HARD it i s for Frasier to accept this as a valid career path + Freddy's struggle to connect with his dad.

Note: the whole set-up of the show is weird anyhow since that's not at all the character Freddy had when he did appear on the original show. You know, where he was allergic to practically everything, wanted to be champion of the speling b, and was last seen rebelling by being a Goth.

[Also, in the reboot, the writers clearly have no love for any of the things Frasier loves - there's no jokes that laugh WITH people about elitism, higher education, classical music, gourmet food, etc., it's all "oh, hahaha, look at idiot try and function with normal people". The original Frasier had jokes like that, too, of course, but it ALSO had jokes, say, about Philip Glass unappologetically with no explanation.]

/ sorry, rant had to go SOMEWHERE and there's no way I'm admitted to anyone in real life that I watched both seasons of this stupid ass thing hoping for even a vague shadow of the joy the original gave me.

This, feels a little cherry-picked to me? Like maybe it's just who I follow but I see transfems saying "she's so gender" about female characters much more than they do about male characters.

I guess I do see more transfems latching on to male characters than transmascs with female characters, but it does happen sometimes. Like Mulan/Haruhi kinda situations generally. But I'm pretty sure the reasons for that are more complicated than just trans fans being sexist.

I was too young in the 90s to really understand the AIDS epidemic, and watching old Law and Order and seeing these men saying, "I have HIV, I'll be dead within a year." was really shocking to me.

I wish we had access to HULU in the UK.

After reading the Vulture article, I genuinely believe no one knew except his wife and the women involved.

I've never gotten into Pratchett's work, but I'm a huge fan of Tori Amos, who's been very close to Gaiman over the years. She references him in several songs. One reference in particular has always been gut-wrenchingly beautiful to me ("seems I keep getting the story / twisted, so where's Neil when you need him?"). I hate that it has such disgusting baggage now. I hate that I have to wonder if she knew. I hate the idea that she didn't know and is just now finding this out about her kid's godfather and going through a grieving process while having to make statements. IDK, I just... guess I want to think no one in his inner circle really knew.

People decided what's the political inclination on fs is. Pro Biden, pro illigal immigrants, pro 2+ sexes, pro DEI, pro war. It would be fine if people stop shutting up anyone who disagrees or act like it's a default opinion that everyone should agree with, or that they are a part of the majority.
There's a plurality of opinions on fandom matters and none on political matters.
All the vocal pro Biden crowd needs is a Reddit voting system so you can downvote comments you dislike.
