Yeah, it really has gotten to be a tightrope walk with female characters. You can even like them and talk about them, but still there will be rants about how your fandom doesn't talk about female characters enough. How much is enough? Fandom is shooting itself in the foot because it's making people feel like we have to meet a quota of Talking About Female Characters, and that's offputting whether we actually want to talk about them or not because even if we do it it sucks having to wonder if we're doing it enough.

I miss when the line was just "no character bashing."

Yeah, my thoughts are always "hey, I'm right here, talking about female characters" but I notice nothing is ever good enough for this crowd. Instead of joining in on the conversation or making content or whatever it's tsk tsking over not enough. But I'm right here and so are other people...?
