Re: Donal Trump is really moving fast with his agenda and getting far more done than he's failed.

Man, this bait is almost as shitty as the Republican party platform.

His goal is to dismantle the republic like a cheap chop shop and sell it off piecemeal to oligarchs while enriching himself, to enact project 2025 (carte blanche, emphasis on the blanche, for racists, bigots, and sexists) and to punish the libs and further impoverish anyone who's not already a multi-millionaire.

His "success" is the suffering of everyone else.

Exactly.

They're also going to crash the economy and elevate bitcoin.

I admit I'm darkly amused at people saying they're going to fuck off to Europe to escape. Do they realize how many right wingers are coming into power there these days?

It's all rich asshole oligarch dark money now. We are well and squarely fucked, for a while, anyway.

I feel like you are missing the point of why the fuck can Democrats not get shit done even a quarter as fast, and why the fuck do they always dither, why can the democrats not be better?

But you are too busy being triggered and screaming slurs.

The only one I see being triggered even though there are zero slurs in the post you replied to is you. Why are you such a fragile snowflake?

Take it down a notch Madame Shouty, and try re-reading.

Well, where are the slurs then, dummy?

Re: Donal Trump is really moving fast with his agenda and getting far more done than he's failed.

Because most of what Trump has been doing is populistic loudmouthing and most of it won't work out as easy as he believes because he's kind of dumb. And it IS far easier to just lean into populistic posturing instead of trying to make a positive change for people, which Trump is entirely uninterested in.

... where are the "slurs" being "screamed" in that post?

Re: Donal Trump is really moving fast with his agenda and getting far more done than he's failed.

Anon who said the Republican party platform is "carte blanche for bigots" here and the thing is, it's a lot easier to break things than it is to do new stuff, and a lot of what Trump is doing and wants to do is dismantle and unmake existing infrastructure and laws and norms to hurt people he considers his enemies and to enrich himself.

It's like how Republicans under McConnell (spits) put forth the occasional show legislation they knew would go nowhere about "marriage is only between a man and a woman" or whatever, but famously what they did under Obama was become "the party of no."

They didn't have the power or votes to really enact the vilest parts of their agenda then, but they could scuttle a lot of proposed progressive legislation just by stalling it in various ways.

Which is still, in most ways that don't involve further enriching the rich, their policy. They don't want to pass new laws or allocate new funding to help more people, they want to dismantle existing laws that protect people and make their lives easier, and claw back funding so the rich can steal it.

Democrats, as flawed and timid as they sometimes are, mostly come in going "how can we help people? Are there any groups of people that we've left out of previous legislation? Can we find funding to help more people?"

Republicans dgaf about people unless they're rich white straight cis ablebodied Christians.

I'll give you an example. In his previous term, Trump made a big deal about how US tax policy is too complicated so obviously everyone should hate the IRS for not making it simpler.

But the IRS not only offers free fillable forms online, they teamed up with various online tax prep companies (Turbotax et al) to offer free filing for people under a certain income limit using online tax prep software. The program is called IRS Free File, it's great.

But why didn't they just tell people how much they owed and let them pay it? Well, those same tax prep companies plus H&R Block donated tons of money to Republicans and claimed the IRS telling people how much they owed was government overreach, so Republicans passed laws saying the IRS couldn't just tell people what they owed, even though that's already what they do if you're audited.

Under Biden, those laws were overturned and a pilot program called Direct File was implemented last year, where you could just log in to the IRS site, they would tell you what you owed, and you'd pay it. No calculations required, but you could file instead if you thought they'd messed up.

After all Trump's whining about how US tax policy should fit on a postcard, he now wants to discontinue Direct File (because it costs companies money Biden's admin implemented it it's government overreach.)
