I think it depends on the context for separating art from the artist.
Like, I enjoy looking into old media and the history behind it; but there's no changing the problematic things that comes with it - plus I think it's very irresponsible to pretend problematic media or its creators doesn't exist for the sake of keeping 'personal morals' clean.

BUT, there's a big difference between educational interests and just enjoying something that you've come by - and even then there's the difference between consuming the media/having ever consumed it and continuing to support the said problematic creators intentionally.

I do notice that they people who seem to shout the loudest about 'Obviously knowing' when a person who turns out to be problematic, seem to be less interested in the people actually put in harms way by said creators and are more interested in feeling justified to bully people in the targeted fandom.
