I think that's up to the individual to decide. There are movies/shows I can't watch anymore because I associate them too strongly with someone involved in them that is morally repugnant to me. But there are others that I can disassociate just fine. I don't think people have to go out of their way to know everything about a creator/contributor to decide whether they 'should' consume something. I also think that if they do know something unpalatable or worse about that creator, they don't have to disassociate or associate the two if they don't care to.

I don't think other people should get to dictate how someone feels about a piece of media due to the actions of a creator/contributor. If you still love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it doesn't mean you endorse Joss Whedon's bad behavior, if you can't read Harry Potter anymore because of JK Rowling's actions, it doesn't mean you're oversensitive or that you are necessarily judging anyone who can.

Imagine how much more enjoyable media discussions would be if everyone adopted this viewpoint. Sigh.

+1

I don’t make a conscious decision about the morality. A person or action or association can just ruin something for me. And sometimes it doesn’t. It’s purely a me thing though and it’s bonkers to expect the rest of the world to consume media on my personal metrics.
