Unfortunately, a common misconception about books like these (that is: fantasy novels with a hefty page count) is that they're trashily written, whatever that means.

I think the same misconception is why a lot of people tend to either look down on or just... avoid fanfics with a 900k+ wordcount. 'Anyone who needs THAT many words to tell a story has to have abysmal storytelling skills!' etc. etc.
