Wear comfortable clothing, including a bra you can take off easily - nothing too tight fitting, in case you're sore afterwards. You might already know this, but don't wear any deodorant, antiperspirant, powders, lotions, creams, or perfumes under your arms, or on or under your breasts because sometimes they interfere with the x-ray. Plan a period of rest and self-care afterwards, because there's the physical discomfort plus the weirdness of having your boobs squashed flat like a pancake while someone else is watching.

Just resign yourself that it's going to hurt and there's only so much you can do. Fortunately, most techs are cognizant of this and sensitive about it - they know full well just how much this sucks. Every mammogram I've had, the tech(s) tried their best to make it go smoothly as possible. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
